Marty has owned this 66 Coupe since 1989. He built and campaigned it all across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma throughout the 1990s and beyond.
Now the Mustang is in for a complete overhaul. The rear of the car will be completely gutted in favor of a new ProStreet backhalf, allowing much larger tires on the rear.
The original floorboards, wheel housings, and hump over the rear end are all coming out. Because of the fastback conversion, none of this will be reused. Rear frame rails and torque boxes are also coming out.
Ever seen a unibody Mustang separated from the frame? Not much car left.
Out with the old and in with the new. This is a glimpse of what we are shooting for.
After much measuring, cutting, grinding, and welding, the Mustang is back sitting on it's own four wheels. A bit closer to the ground, and a much bigger footprint!
With the frame completed, it's time to get rid of the coupe body and build a fastback.
