On this project, we are primarily focused on removing rust and getting the Fastback ready to paint. The customer brought it to us without any of the drive-train, as he is seeing to the mechanical work himself. This car came from the factory with the 6-cylinder engine and 4-bolt hubs. That may change. Due to extensive rust, we have replaced both rear quarter panels, the floor boards, including seat risers, the trunk lid, and rear panel. We have also repaired the inner front panels and the area around the battery. The photos at left show the progression of the rusted floor boards being cut out and replaced with new. The pictures on the right show the exterior of the Mustang taking shape. This car will soon go back to the customer where it will be made road-ready, then back to us for the final coat of paint. |
